Ways You Can Encourage Staff

First, there is nothing more important than praying for members of the Walnut Ridge Baptist Staff on a daily basis. Clergy are coming under the fire of Satan and it is important for our congregation to lift them up each day. People often ask pastors how they can specifically pray for them. This information, supplied by the First United Methodist Church in Waco, sums it up perfectly.

Pray for:

Rest and strength:    for continued renewal and encouragement (Isaiah 40:27-31,Psalm 23)

Intimacy with God:     to make time alone with God a priority (Mark 1:35, Philippians 4:13) and to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:13)

Family:     for time to spend together, for health and for a hedge of protection around them (Psalm 91:9-12) that they be anxious for nothing and for God to meet all their needs (Philippians 4:6,7,19)

Ministry effectiveness:     anointed by the power of the Holy Spirit (1John 2:27) to have a heart for the lost and make evangelism a priority (Luke 15:7)

Obedience to God:     to be sensitive to God's leading, to live a spirit-filled life evident with the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control (Galatians 5:22)

Leadership:     to be an effective motivator and equipper of the people to do the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12)

Wisdom:     to know and to do God's agenda (James 1:5)

Other Ways You Can Encourage Staff

Send words of encouragement to the staff member through the
direct e-mail links we have provided on this page.

Send uplifting or humorous electronic greeting cards direct to
the staff member highlighting a significant accomplishment, a
birthday, or an anniversary.

Send cards or letters letting the staff member know you are
praying for them and send these as well on significant dates as
outlined on this web site.

Send a card with a gift certificate to the staff member's favorite
eating establishment.

Take the staff member and their spouse, and if appropriate their
family, to lunch or dinner. Consider having them over to your
house for a meal.

Make a gift basket of goodies that is unique to the likes of that
particular staff member. We will provide a list at the bottom of
this page indicating the favorite hobbies and things the staff like
to do.

Take the staff member hunting, fishing, golfing, to a movie, play,
or some other type of off site event to allow them to have rest
and relaxation.

Arrange to have a professional massage or a manicure given to
help the staff member alleviate stress.

Staff members sometimes are unable to afford a nice romantic
meal and often times they are unable to arrange for sitters.
Arrange for the staff member to have their children watched by
responsible members of the church and set up a nice romantic
dinner for them somewhere.

Offer the staff member an opportunity to have a night on the
town by watching their kids.

Sometimes anonymous or insignificant sized gifts have the best
impact on staff. Just letting people know you prayed about them,
thought about,  them, or sent a nice thought about their family makes
all the difference in the world.

Consider utilizing some of your God given talents to put together a
unique expression of thoughtfulness that only you can make based on your present skills.
